General Hospital Preview: As the PCPD Close In On Michael, Laura Wright Teases the Extremes to Which Carly Will Go to Keep Him Out of Prison

The walls are closing in on Michael on General Hospital, and the evidence that he shot Drew is mounting to the point that no one seems too sure of his innocence anymore! For now, Ronnie, of all people, delayed Anna’s attempts to dig up dirt against Michael, and it may have bought enough time for the literal smoking gun to disappear.
But if the cops do find anything to build a case against Michael, he could be in some serious trouble — whether or not he actually did the shooting! Drew certainly seems to think his nephew is capable of attempted murder, and sadly, he’s not the only one! Because Carly feels the same way!
Laura Wright told Soap Opera Digest that Michael’s own mother thinks he could have maybe, possibly pulled the trigger and tried to take out Drew. And we certainly don’t blame her because we agree with that sentiment! Then again, the most obvious suspects are often the ones least likely to have done something, but that’s not exactly a rule of murder mysteries.
For her part, Carly doesn’t really care whether or not Michael did it. Well, she cares because, as Wright told Digest, “You don’t want to see your child kill somebody or try to, or to be so angry that he’s going to hurt someone in a way that could put him in prison forever. She doesn’t want him to go to jail.” But whether he’s truly guilty or not won’t change the fact that, “she’ll do everything she can to stop that from happening.”
And if there’s anything we know about Carly, it’s that she “will do whatever she has to do to protect her kids. Whatever it takes.” And yes, that includes taking the blame for their — and in this specific case, Michael’s — crimes!
That could spell utter disaster for Carly, though. Because if she ends up jumping into the line of fire and Michael didn’t try murdering Drew, then she could very well end up thrown into jail for nothing. We know she’d view it as a chance worth taking and a sacrifice worth making, but that won’t help figure out who really did shoot Drew.
At the end of the day, if Carly really wanted to help Michael, instead of falling on her own sword for him, the best thing she may be able to do is find out who really did shoot her ex. Because no matter who did it, so long as Michael’s in the clear, we’re pretty sure Carly would be willing to throw just about anyone else under the bus (like Willow…) in a heartbeat to protect him!
Unless of course Josslyn was the one to pull the trigger for some reason… We guess that stunning twist would just about assure that Carly’s heading to prison no matter what!
