Days of our Lives' star Suzanne Rogers says the show rallied around her after her cancer diagnosis
Days of our Lives fans are sending supportive thoughts to Suzanne Rogers, who has played Maggie since 1973. The actress is sharing news of a dramatic change in her health, and is grateful to her castmates and TV family for coming to her aid in this time of need.

The Daytime Emmy-winner has shared with TV Insider that she'd been diagnosed with cancer. Rogers's doctor told her that he wanted her to have an MRI and a PET scan, which let her know that something was amiss. The actress was diagnosed with Stage II colorectal cancer.
Needless to say, Rogers was in shock for several days. Her physician informed her that it was good that it was caught early. The fan favorite finished her taping schedule on June 13, and then, she began treatment three days later. She underwent radiation and chemotherapy for six weeks.
"It was tough knowing you had to do it five days a week," she said. DAYS had a summer production hiatus for six weeks, which allowed her to focus on her health without having to think about playing Maggie.
Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Stephen Nichols (Steve), Greg Rikaart (Leo), and AnnaLynne McCord (Cat), as well as backstage personnel, reached out to Rogers with supportive calls. Also, Ken Corday, executive producer, supported Rogers during this challenging time. He, Noel Maxam, co-executive producer, and Sara Peterson, producer, all let Rogers know the most important thing was for her to take care of herself and not to worry.

Along with Rogers's pal Sunie Ostermann, Rogers was able to lean on her TV daughter Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) for support. Rogers says that having friends around her was vital because once you hear the word "cancer," you tend not to hear much after that.
Godfrey, who is also a cancer survivor, held Rogers's hand while she was going through infusion treatments. While Xander is in the doghouse, his portrayer, Paul Telfer, also provided support to Rogers during this time. "We really feel like a family," the DAYS veteran says.
Rogers has happily shared that she's feeling really good. In fact, she's going to report back to work next week. Naturally, Rogers is concerned about her energy levels, but, fortunately, that's all on the upswing.
"Today, I feel really good, and that's happening more and more than the other way around. I'm really happy about that," she says.
As DAYS tapes several months ahead, Rogers's absence from the Peacock drama won't be seen until 2026. "The prayers and the good wishes from my friends and my family helped me stay positive and stay on top of it and beat this," Rogers says.
